§ 39-422. Handicapped parking.

  • (a)

    Whenever a parking space in a parking space in a parking area or facility is available for public use, is clearly marked by a sign for symbol as being reserved for handicapped parking, it shall be unlawful to park or stand any motor vehicle in such space unless such motor vehicle displays a distinguishing license plate or placard issued pursuant to state law.

    (b)

    All handicapped parking spaces shall be first approved by the city administrator or his designate prior to marking of any handicapped parking space on public streets. Designation of handicapped parking places by private property owners shall be up to the sole discretion of private

    property owners, provided however that so designating a handicapped parking space shall be a grant to the city of the authority to enforce this section on private property.
