§ 49-4. Yard or garage sales in residential areas; requirements, advertising; penalties.

  • Private sales of personal goods, wares or merchandise shall be conducted only on property owned or leased by the seller and shall not be held for more than one (1) forty-eight-hour period per calendar year. The placing of signs or other advertising relating to said sale on or along streets, street right-of-way or public property is prohibited unless a permit to place such advertising be obtained in advance from the chief of police. All violations of this chapter and section shall be punishable by a fine of not less than five dollars ($5.00) nor more than one hundred dollars ($100.00) or imprisonment in the county jail for a period of up to ninety (90) days or by both such fine and imprisonment.
